The popularity of the NordicTrack Commercial Incline Treadmills is the ability to get a intense cardio workout with a low impact workout. The main advantage for an incline trainer over a regular treadmill is the extreme 40% incline that will help you burn more calories while just walking. The x22i is their top of the line model and offers an enormous 22″ HD Touchscreen Display.
Our Experts Testing the Incline Treadmill at NordicTrack Headquarters
More recently, Nordictrack has introduced the x22i Commercial Incline Trainer. The powerful motor, serious incline and upgraded technology on the Commercial x22i Incline Treadmill leave no doubt that this machine is prepared to put in serious work. Best of all, they added a new “sled push” feature that allows you to simulate pushing a heavy sled of weights while pushing off an unpowered belt. Good stuff!
Our team has reviewed several Commercial Incline Trainers and we can vouch for the effectiveness of the workouts. On top of our opinion, we know for a fact that NordicTrack employees view these machines as favorites. The NordicTrack incline treadmills are primarily for walking and help deliver effective workouts without subjecting your joints to excess stress and strain. They can certainly handle running with a top speed of 12 mph.
Besides the intense incline workout, the NordicTrack Commercial x22i also comes with industry leading interactive technology in the form of iFit. This program will help you set goals, track your progress, and let you work out in exciting virtual locations around the world.
NordicTrack Commercial x22i Incline Trainer
Next-Gen Sled Push – The Commercial x22i Incline Treadmill features the addition of the Next-Gen Sled Push feature. Sled push workouts have gained major popularity for being a full-body blasting workout in addition to your cardio. They involve literally pushing a weighted sled in front of you for a certain distance.
Nordictrack has sought to replicate that particular workout on a treadmill. The added push bar and sled grips place your hand and body in position to properly perform the exercise. From there you simply put the treadmill at 1.0 mph and push your workout yourself.
22″ Smart HD Touchscreen – This is the largest touchscreen we’ve ever seen on a treadmill. At 22-inches, it provides a totally immersive experience. Using the iFit technology, you can view landscapes around the world while you work out. GoogleMaps also lets you observe the street view if you choose a more familiar route. The machine will sync to your route’s terrain with increases and decreases in incline percentage. You can easily switch between your workout route and your stats with the easy swipe of a finger.
4.0 Continuous Duty HP Motor – This is a monster motor that will easily handle almost all users without straining.
22″ x 60″ Treadbelt – A 60″ belt is not uncommon in this price range, but you should take notice to the width. This is an extra wide belt that will make your exercise service feel spacious.
Ability to Incline and Decline – The x22i goes from -6% all the way up to 40% incline. A decline feature is attractive because it lets you better simulate both up and down hills while you work out on virtual courses. Plus, this helps you target additional muscles in your lower body.
iFit – We’ve mentioned a few of the features of iFit already. This is the top feature available on all Icon Fitness products (Including ProForm and NordicTrack machines.) iFit allows you to do the following:
Note: This machine comes with 1 year FREE iFit membership so you can test out the features before you pay a subscription fee.
Check out a comparison chart with all of the NordicTrack Incline Treadmill models here.
Warranty – The X22i has a great warranty: 10-year frame warranty, 2 years parts, & 1 year labor. A strong warranty is a good indicator of the quality of a machine.
Snap Assembly – This machine has “Out of the Box Assembly.” We have not personally tried to assemble this machine, but it is encouraging that the company has taken this issue into consideration.
Other Features – Speakers, MP3 input, fan, grip heart rate monitor, wireless heart rate monitor and large 2.5″ rollers. This machine does NOT include a tablet holder.
The Commercial X22i takes an already popular machine, the x14i, and adds an enormous 22″ HD Smart Touchscreen. We have been thoroughly impressed with the entire NordicTrack Incline Treadmill line. This newest model will provide an even more immersive experience. Best of all, the Icon Fitness employees view the incline trainers as favorites. Of all the options, this is the one that they prefer to use. That says a lot.
Remember, the Commercial x22i comes with the addition of the Next-Gen Sled Push feature. The push bar and sled grips give you the proper body placement to turn your treadmill into a weighted sled push. You hold onto the handles in either of the two predetermined locations, put the speed on 1mph and push your way to a full-body workout. There is no doubt that the popular sled push workout is effective.

Can you watch TV on the 22″ display?
Hi Douglas,
You can not watch TV on the 22 inch display. Research tends to suggest the best motivation is a personal trainer and with the IFIT Live coach, you will definitely be motivated. Let me know if you have additional questions.
thanks,
Brad
Can you use this as a regular treadmill and any of the 44 workouts for running
Hi Les,
The NordicTrack X22i goes up to 12 MPH so if you want to run it isn’t a problem.
Can you use google on the big screen without having to subscribe to the iFit membership?
Hi Jose, an active one year subscription is required when you purchase the X22i. Currently, you can’t purchase the X22i without adding in the Ifit membership.
I am hesitating between x22i and c2950. I am runner and need treadmill to prepare for Boston Marathon. I will be using it mostly for running.
Thanks
Hi John,
If you need the advantage of the steep incline the X22i will provide the best of both worlds (incline and running).
Can you put the screen into sleep mode it’s not on does it just stay all the time. Just set mine up and wasn’t sure
Hi Scott,
The previous models we tested featured either on/off function or sleep mode. Let me know if yours doesn’t function in that manner? thanks Brad
For the NordicTrack X22i, Regarding the one year ifit subscription, can my husband and I both use that subscription to “personalize our goals” or do we each have to buy our own?
With iFit Live you can add a secondary user
I live in an apartment and concerned about not disturbing my neighbors. How suitable is it for an apartment?
Hi William,
I would think if it’s an apartment complex with neighbors underneath they will be able to hear you running/pounding on the machine. If there isn’t anyone under you, doubtful it’s an issue.
Is the 22inch screen web enabled? Can I watch YouTube ?
Does it have a fan?
Does it have speakers ?
Hi Deniece,
The 22 inch screen is for iFit Live and it is not web enabled for youtube and such. The X22i is equipped with fans and speakers. Let me know if you have additional questions. thanks, Brad
Hi am Matt we have Just bought the X22i
We took out 3yrs IFit, & also Extra Warrenty
10 yrs parts 7yrs labor…
I thought you got the Dumbells with the X22i?
But we had to Order separate:(
Is This Right?
Thx Matt.
Hi Matt,
We will get our page updated as it appears Nordic has now made the dumbbells optional, but I notice they included iFIT live at no additional cost to offset. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Brad
I see that some people have their treadmill delivered damaged.. & very poor response from the support teams…
Can I ask has any of the X22i owners here had any upsets with damage or the unit faulty…
I am abit concerned My unit will arrive damaged, or may develop a fault… 🙁
What’s been your Story?…
Thx Matt
I’m interested in this machine, others like it I’ve seen complaints about ifit not working unless your machine is in the same room as your router. That’s not gonna work for me. Is this model good for WiFi in another room than a router? Otherwise I don’t want it. Thanks
Hi Sarah, we saw complaints about iFit connectivity issues when they first launched but this seems to be an issue they have resolved. hope this helps!
I am considering purchasing the X22i incline trainer. I see that iFit is included for the first year. What happens the following year if I am not interested in the iFit. I don’t think it is something I will want to use. There isn’t one at a store nearby that i can go see in person. Personally I don’t like the workout trainer videos or travel scenes (mainly because they don’t keep base with your speed) that come with the Peleton Bike and I am guessing this is similar. Is there an option for the screen to just show your workout progress or tempo/circuit like a typical treadmill? I wouldn’t want it to just be a black screen. I like to see how much time is left in my workout and calories burned etc.
Thanks,
Sue
Hi Sue,
You will be able to use your machine without Ifit.
Hello, looking at purchasing the x22i. Wondering if the platform is long enough to do the push sled bar without feeling like your stride is cut short or your feet falling off the back. Any users have a problem with the length of the treadmill?
Hi Trisha,
We’ve not received any negative feedback from the deck length when using the sled push.
Wow.. just love the trainer. The review captures the details so well and the best part is the video! Thanks
Hello, what is the thickness of the deck on X22i? Is a 1-ply or 2-ply belt is used?
Hi Alex, the deck dimensions are 22″ x 60″ and a 2ply belt. Hope this helps
How heavy is the X22i and how difficult is it to move?
Hi Kelly, it weighs around 400 lbs. It’s known for it’s ease of assembly, but I’m really not sure about moving it.
can i plug the Commercial X22i into a regular 110-V outlet?
Yes.
Just got my X22i delivered and love the machine, but it doesn’t seem to support wireless headphones via Bluetooth. I seem to be able to play my ipod/ipad sound through the speakers and I can connect to the heart rate monitor, but would really like to use my airpods so the rest of the house doesn’t need to hear the instructor.
Does the X22i support Bluetooth wireless headphones?
Yes, the x22i has bluetooth audio capabilities
I don’t want everyone to listen to my workout, can I connect headphones to the treadmill (x22i)?
Yes!
Brook Norris maybe I’m doing something wrong because they don’t connect. I can connect my phone so I can listen to music but I cannot connect the headphones so I can listen to the instructors. Do you have any information on how I can connect them?
Hi Marisa, I dug a little further on this and it looks like this is a limitation on on NordicTrack machines. You can connect your bluetooth headphones and listen to music in, but you can’t listen to iFit via bluetooth headphones. This is new information to us. Sorry, I can see how that would be annoying.
