LifeSpan Treadmill Reviews

Lifespan logoRecently, members of our review team traveled to Salt Lake City and visited the LifeSpan headquarters. LifeSpan is an up and coming player that is carving out a niche for themselves among other established brands in the industry. Their brand is a bit different from other competitors in the industry in that they sell primarily through individual fitness stores and online. Since their launch, their treadmills have been getting some impressive ratings and reviews. The treadmills from LifeSpan seem to offer a nice balance between quality construction, appealing design, and attractive features.

LifeSpan Treadmills: Pros and Cons

The LifeSpan treadmill models that our team personally tried out had a very solid construction feel and ran smoothly and quietly. In addition, the feedback we have gotten from consumers gotten suggests the machines are very durable. Another trusted resource, a popular consumer magazine, recently gave one of their machines a “Best Buy” rating and an “Excellent” rating in the categories of Ergonomics, Construction, Ease of Use, and Exercise Range.

One of the most notable aspects we have observed from LifeSpan is their commitment to excellence not only in their machine quality, but in their customer service as well. With many larger more established fitness brands, consumers find that their customer service departments are lacking (to say the least). LifeSpan’s customer service department is headed up by a 15-year veteran in the fitness industry. They are attentive and responsive which is a major plus in our book when purchasing equipment from them.

A nice feature found on LifeSpan treadmills is the impressive option of pre-programmed workouts. This is pretty much unheard of in the industry today. A lot of other fitness equipment manufacturers do offer some type of workout programs on their machines, such as iFit or Studio, but you have to pay a recurring monthly fee to access these programs. The pre-installed programs available on LifeSpan treadmills feature 21 ready-to-use-programs. There are 2 heart rate programs, 2 customized user programs and 17 preset programs (5 weight management, 5 healthy living, 7 sports training).

For those who want their treadmill to be a one-and-done purchase, pre-installed workouts are an attractive feature. It’s also worth noting that the full color interactive display screens on LifeSpan treadmills are some of the better display quality screens in the industry. According to the President of Lifespan, Peter Schenk, “We are dedicated to being a leader in this behavioral shift driving the integration of fitness equipment with the internet and developing features that make our equipment more effective, engaging and entertaining.”

Our team has been thoroughly intrigued by the efforts toward safety that we have seen from LifeSpan. Many of their machines have folding capabilities. A lot of times when treadmills are able to be folded, we see that the machine construction can be lightweight and flimsy. However, LifeSpan machines are solid and stable even with the folding capabilities.

Overall, our critiques on the LifeSpan brand as a whole are extremely minute. Some of their machines lack a few “extra” features that consumers tend to prefer. We’ll get into some of those drawbacks under each individual machine.

LifeSpan TR4000i Treadmill Review

The TR3000i and the TR4000i treadmills are both very similar, however the TR4000i features a 60” running surface length as opposed to the 56” on the TR3000i. This may not seem like a big difference, but it will make for a much more comfortable stride length for those who are around the 6” height. In addition, Health Magazine gave this machine a #1 Rating. Runner’s World suggested the TR4000i was a solid, stable, and a good option for runners. These are some seriously accredited claims to back up the credibility of this machine. This treadmill is normally priced somewhere around $2,000.

The LifeSpan TR4000i is priced at $2,199. 0% Financing is Available with Payments Starting as Low as $91.63/Month. Free Shipping and 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.

Features found on the TR4000i treadmill:

Lifespan TR4000i Treadmill22” x 60” Running Space — As mentioned, this is a generous size tread belt, ideal for any type of running and/or walking workout. The running surface is combined with a 1″ thick deck which will reduce noise and make for a gentler workout on your joints.

3.25 HP Continuous Duty Motor — Standard size motor for this price.  This motor will easily handle runners and incline training.

2.5” Rollers — 2 front-mounted and 2 rear-mounted wheels for easy forward/backward movement and storage capabilities. Decent size rollers that will reduce noise and wear and tear to the belt, bearings and motor.

Forgiving Shock Absorption — There are two factors that make the shock absorption appealing on the TR400i. First, there are four compressions shocks on each side of the deck. Many treadmills at this price have only three per side. Having four better distributes the impact and reduces the shock. Second, the LifeSpan TR4000i comes with a 2.8 mm thick orthopedic belt, which further reduces the impact and shock to your lower joints and back.

7″ Full Color Screen — As of 2019, the LifeSpan TR4000i comes with an updated full-color touch display screen. The console features 3 dashboard views (graph view, gauge view, and track view). Although the dashboard is touch display, the console still includes physical buttons so you can easily make speed and incline adjustments during your workout.

Warranty — Lifetime frame and motor warranty, 5-year parts, and 2 years labor.

Lifespan TR4000i Treadmill ReviewIncline AND Decline — Having both incline and decline capabilities is an extremely appealing feature. The TR4000i can go from -2% decline to up to 13% incline. This is a great way to enhance your workout and really get your heart pumping.

Additional Features — The TR4000i has several “bonus” features…

  • 24 Fitness Inspiring Workouts (3 extra programs than the standard)
  • Built-In Bluetooth
  • Premium-Sound Speakers
  • EZFold Technology
  • 3-Speed Cooling Fan
  • Contact Heart-Rate Sensors

LifeSpan TR5500i Treadmill Review

The TR5500i is a monster of a treadmill available in the LifeSpan lineup. This machine was designed to withstand high-intensity level training workouts… over and over again. And, it’s backed with a better warranty as well.

5500What to expect on the TR5500i treadmill:

22” x 60” Running Space — The length of this machine will work well for all types of runners.  We especially like the 22″ wide belt.  You will really enjoy the extra elbow room.

4.0 HP Continuous Duty Motor — This is a powerful motor that will easily be able to handle regular running workouts.

Anti-Vibration and EZ Fold Design – The Lifespan TR5500i separates the running surface from the console supports so your running steps will not cause the display to vibrate.  In addition, this design contributes to an easy folding mechanism that lets you clean around the machine more easily and store it when it’s not in use.

10″ Full Color Display Screen — This is the largest display offered on LifeSpan machines. There are 3 different viewing options: graph view, gauge view, and track view. Enjoy the 24 (3 over the standard 21) pre-programmed workouts on this nice size screen.

Lifespan TR5500i Treadmill ReviewIncline AND Decline — Most treadmills don’t offer decline features. However, the TR5500i provides -2 levels of decline all the way up to 13 levels incline. This machine is really made to offer “kick butt” workouts.

High Speeds — The TR5500i goes up to 13.5 mph so you can take your workout to the extreme.

2.5” Rollers — Larger rollers like this will decrease noise and prevent excessive wear on your belt.

Bluetooth Speakers — Listen to your favorite music during your workout to stay motivated and charge your phone at the same time with the built in USB charging port.

Forgiving Shock Absorption — Just like the LifeSpan TR4000i, this machine has four compression shocks on each side of the deck for extra cushioning.  It will provide a natural feel and protection for your joints while you run.

Warranty — Lifetime Frame, Lifetime Motor, 5 years Parts, and 2 years Labor.

LifeSpan TR5500iM Treadmill Review

Lifespan advertises the TR5500iM treadmill as their best residential treadmill option. This machine is specifically engineered to take your cardiovascular challenge during exercise to the next level. Usually, the TR5500iM is priced very closely to the TR5500i, within a few hundred dollars. Maybe you’re wondering, what does the “M” stand for in this treadmill name? In our opinion – that’s the best part!

Lifespan TR5500iM Treadmill The main difference between the TR5500i and the TR5500iM is… well, the M. The M stands for Mirror technology. This treadmill will allow you to mirror your favorite show, podcast, music, or any desired media from your phone or tablet to your treadmill screen via Bluetooth. This is a really exciting feature. Most treadmills will have you confined to pre-programmed workouts and on-screen fitness tracking to view during your workout routine. Now, get your favorite media playing right on your treadmill screen with the TR5500iM and watch your workout fly by!

The TR5500iM also features:

10” Full-Color Touchscreen Display – A nice sized screen to mirror your favorite content onto.

4.0 HP Continuous Duty DC Motor – This is the largest motor you’ll typically find on a residential use treadmill. It’s a monster of a motor and will give no issues for even the toughest of workouts.

50+ Built-In Workouts – Yup. You read that right. Not 21, not 24, 50+ exercise workouts built into your treadmill machine. These workouts include programs like races, fitness tests, and training programs.

22” x 60” Running Surface – An extra 2” width and a lengthy 60” running surface will give even users on the taller side a comfortable running stride space.

Lifespan TR5500iM Treadmill Review -2 Decline to +13 Incline – Simulate going up and down hills with the decline and incline capabilities of this machine to incorporate even more muscle groups and burn more calories.

Up to 13.5 MPH Speed – The speed capabilities on this machine will really let you get your heart pumping.

Warranty – Lifetime Frame, Lifetime Motor, 5 years Parts, and 2 years Labor.

Other Notes – 350 lb. Suggested User Weight Limit; Dimensions Unfolded: 73″ L x 34.5″ W x 55.5″ H, Folded: 40.5″ L x 34.5″ W x 65.5″ H; Power Requirement: 115V NEMA 5-15 Non GFI Circuit

LifeSpan TR6000i Light-Commercial Treadmill

LifeSpan recently added a few commercial options for treadmill machines into their product line up. Something really impressive about their commercial treadmills is that they include a better warranty than their residential machines. Typically in the fitness industry, we see the opposite case. The more expensive the treadmill, the less coverage is offered in a warranty. This really speaks volumes about the value and confidence LifeSpan places in the quality of their commercial grade treadmills. The TR6000i is normally priced for less than $3,000.

The LifeSpan TR6000i is currently priced at $2,999. 0% financing is available with payments starting as low as $124.96/month. Free shipping!

Some top features on the TR6000i Light-Commercial Treadmill include:

10” Full-Color Touchscreen Display – This is an average sized display screen for the price that will readout your exercise stats.

3.5 HP AC Motor – While this motor may seem like a downgrade from the 4.0 DC motor found on the TR5500i/M residential machines, don’t let the number fool you. This motor is known as an AC motor rather than DC, which means that it operates on increased power efficiency and output.

Intuitive Console – The console displays stats such as time, distance, steps, heart rate, calories, incline, pace, and elevation change. There are 46 included running programs to choose from on the TR6000i. There is also a media holder large enough for a tablet/iPad.

Lifespan TR6000i Treadmill Review22” x 60” Running Surface – Extra wide and extra lengthy, this is the size we’d expect to see on a commercial grade treadmill.

-3 Decline to +13 Incline – The -3 decline may not seem like much but being able to mimic hills and valleys on the treadmill will strengthen your leg muscles like never before.

Up to 13.5 MPH Speed – Perfect for those who want to do sprint/interval training.

Commercial Grade Construction/Large Rollers – There are aluminum side rails, ultra-thick handrails, and a robotically-welded steel frame. The front rollers are 3.0”. Large rollers this size will reduce wear and tear on your belt and extend the overall life of your treadmill.

Warranty – Lifetime Frame, Lifetime Motor, 7 years Parts, and 1-year Labor.

Other Notes – 350 lb. Suggested User Weight Limit; Dimensions Unfolded: 74.5″ L x 35″ W x 55.5″ H, Power Requirement: 115V NEMA 5-15 Non GFI Circuit; 2 front-mounted wheels for transport

LifeSpan TR7000i Commercial Treadmill

The TR7000i will run you about $1,000 more than the TR6000i Light-Commercial treadmill. What’s really impressive is the size of the running surface on this machine. It’s really a machine that could be an impressive add-on to your home gym or thrive in a commercial gym setting as well.

The top features on the TR7000i Commercial Treadmill include:

Lifespan TR7000i Treadmill Review22” x 62” Running Surface – This surface is huge. Although it may not seem like it would make much of a difference, if you are over 6 foot or just have a long athletic stride, you will really enjoy the room this deck provides.

3.5 HP AC Motor – LifeSpan boasts in providing the highest-quality and longest-lasting motors on the market in their products. This AC style motor will give non-stop power, even pushing it at the highest speeds.

Incline and Speed – There is no decline capability on the TR7000i. However, the incline goes all the way up to 15MPH with 12MPH max speed options. Basically… you can run up a mountain on this machine.

6.5” Display Area – The display area is a 6.5” multi-color LCD screen. It displays the standard exercise stat readouts. There are the standard 21 pre-programmed workouts on this treadmill.

Commercial Grade Construction and Belt – The incline motor is rated for 1,000 lb. thrust. A cheaply made treadmill will have a lower motor thrust rating. To sum it up: this motor is seriously heavy duty. In addition, the belt is designed for low maintenance and high mileage use. The large 3” crowned rollers will keep your treadmill in much better shape after years of use.

Warranty – Lifetime Frame, Lifetime Motor, 5 years Parts, and 2-years Labor.

Other Notes – 400 lb. Max User Weight; 390 lb. Gross Product Weight; Dimensions Unfolded 80.5″ L x 33.25″ W x 61″ H, Power Requirement: 115V NEMA 5-15 Non GFI Circuit

Lifespan TR7000iM Treadmill ReviewSpeed and Incline Capabilities – Go -3 degrees downhill all the way to 12 degrees uphill, and challenge yourself with speeds up to 12 MPH. Your leg muscles may hate you at first, but they’ll thank you in the long run.

Extra Large HD Mirroring Touchscreen – The screen on the TR7000iM is an 18.5” LCD HD Touchscreen. While the size of this screen is impressive in itself, the Mirroring capabilities really knock it out of the park. By using Bluetooth, you can mirror your favorite content from your phone or tablet onto your treadmill screen. If you want to take advantage of the built-in programs, there are 28 to choose from.

Strong Design – Just like the TR7000i, this treadmill has an incline motor thrust rating of 1000 lbs. It has a durable steel construction, along with optional medical handlebars if you are in the process of injury rehabilitation.

Extra “Fun” Features – 2 USB ports, media holder, contact heart rate sensors

Warranty – Lifetime Frame, Lifetime Motor, 5 years Parts, and 2-years Labor.

Other Notes – 400 lb. Max User Weight; 480 lb. Gross Product Weight; Dimensions Unfolded 80.5” L x 36.5” W x 61” H.

LifeSpan Treadmill Desks

What makes LifeSpan really unique is their superior line-up of treadmill desks. LifeSpan was one of the innovators of treadmill desks, and in that niche marketing they are one of the biggest players. Their company has been building and refining treadmill desks for years for both residential and corporate use.  In fact, treadmill desks are the biggest segment of their business. These people know treadmill desks. Beyond the fact that their treadmill desks are some of the best available, they offer a variety of options to accommodate the needs of those who to maintain a healthy lifestyle even during the workday.

Why Would You Even Want a Treadmill Desk?

Besides the numerous health benefits there are also productive and creative benefits. In our society today, many of our jobs have us stick sitting all day. There have been many studies showing the negative effects on our bodies from sitting at a desk all day every day.

Treadmill Desk BenefitsHere a just a few of the benefits you get from a treadmill desk…

  • Physical Activity can Increase Mood and Comfort
  • Walking can Improve Focus, Memory, and Motivation
  • Promotes a Healthy Body Weight and Reduce Obesity (Burn up to 200 calories per hour)
  • Constant and Steady Movement Decreases Skeletal and Muscle Pains, Including Arthritis
  • Improves Blood Sugar Levels which can reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes
  • Helps to Maintain Strong Bones

Treadmill desks are about continually moving at a slow pace.  Typically, around 1.5 mph – 1.8 mph.  Initially, as with any new form of exercise, you start slow and ramp up.  And you are not going to find yourself walking 8 hours a day.  You balance walking on a treadmill desk with sitting and standing.  The folks at LifeSpan mentioned that often in a corporate setting people sign-up to use the limited number of treadmill desks for a few hours per day.

Having tested their treadmill desks, but not actually worked on one, our question to their staff was “how hard is it to work while you are walking?”  These machines are about slow motion that does not interfere with work activities, but still offers health benefits. The staff at LifeSpan, who obviously use treadmill desks at work, mentioned that had no difficulties talking, typing and manipulating a mouse.

Are Treadmill Desks Safe?

First, treadmill desks are not design for heart pounding, intense cardio workouts.  They are built for very slow walking, and initially you should gradually ramp up your routine. Once you are in the groove exercising is about as safe as you can get. In fact, the staff said they have never had a report of injuries while using their treadmill desks.  And they mentioned there are virtually no product failures. The LifeSpan treadmill desks have a reputation for longevity.

How Quiet is a Treadmill Desk?

One of the major hesitancies in purchasing a treadmill desk is the noise. Particularly for those working in a corporate office setting, no one wants to be “that co-worker” who is making obnoxiously loud walking noises all day in an attempt to get their physical activity in. To put it into reference, LifeSpan rated the dB noise level of common sounds, and their treadmill desks in-use fall right in the middle of a whisper and a vacuum cleaner. The team at LifeSpan has conducted noise experiments and their team has found that the most comparable sound to the hum of one of their treadmill desks would be the motor of an oscillating tower fan on low speed.

LifeSpan Treadmill Desk Design

Lifespan Treadmill Desk ReviewThere are similarities and differences of a treadmill desk from your typical treadmill.  They are sleeker in design and since you are taking short walking strides they are not as long as a standard treadmill.  The LifeSpan treadmill desks are workhorses built specifically for slow speeds for long periods of time.  They run at lower RPMs to make them more efficient. The deck consists of six shock absorbers designed to reduce stress and strain to your joints.  They utilize two ply belts that holds the lube for longer periods. All the machines in their Treadmill Desks series feature their Intelli-Guard Safety Technology, that ensures your treadmill only operates when you’re actively walking. This is a great feature to promote safety in the work environment. Finally, the LifeSpan treadmill desks include Bluetooth technology that allows you to monitor you distance and steps.  This data can then be transferred to your preferred fitness app.

Are LifeSpan Treadmills Worth It?

Lifespan Treadmill ReviewLifeSpan has been around for over 20 years. Their company launched with much more humble roots, with only a few fitness products. Since then, their company has really expanded and evolved to focus on the physical fitness and overall well-being of the customer. Our team is really impressed with the amount of dedication to health, and the attention to detail for top notch construction and safety that goes into the fitness equipment launched from LifeSpan.

The passion for customer health is what brought them to expand their equipment line to office wellness. The development of their treadmill deck and desk series really shows the commitment that LifeSpan has to addressing the rampant health issues correlated to sedentary lifestyles. In addition, their customer service department is excellent, which is extremely rare for the fitness industry.

LifeSpan Treadmill Reviews

As always, our team takes a deep dive on the internet to find the most recent and relevant consumer reviews for fitness brands and products. Even though our expert review team can be impressed with a brand and their equipment, what really matters is the consumer experience.

After our research, it’s proven to be a difficult task to find a negative review for LifeSpan. The most common theme of any negative reviews consisted of the complaints that there aren’t any cooling fans, there is not a chest strap included for heart rate monitoring, and the machines are not as technology focused as other treadmills in the same price range from other brands. Also, some of their treadmills have 200 lb. weight limits, which is fairly light.

Check out some of the most recent online consumer reviews for LifeSpan machines:

Dawn D. – TR4000i Treadmill 2021 Review

Simple. Easy to use. Works well. Quiet. I have 3 cross country runners, so it gets used often and we’ve had no issues.

Johann A. – TR5000 GlowUp Deck 2021 Review

Many home treadmills have sticky foot strike and need lubricating and tuning, not this one. I put it in front of a window, built a desk around it, added a grab bar and a fan, and it’s my new perfect office. I’ve been getting in about 5 miles a day.

Sonja G. – TR2000i Treadmill 2021 Review

I love the compact size of this treadmill, but it doesn’t skimp on features or power. I have had it for about 2 months and use it 5 days a week, typically. It is easy to use, and I have had no issues with changing speeds and incline frequently during a workout.

Dane S. – TR800 Glow Up Deck 2021 Review

Work perfect right out of the box. Set up was easy but the weight of the unit was heavy, and I needed help to bring it to the office. I have had it for a month now putting 3 miles a day on it, works perfect.

Roger S. – TR2000e Treadmill 2021 Review

This is a very well built and designed treadmill. It has very good power, a wide belt and a number of programs for all levels. I can recommend this treadmill without hesitation.
