Spirit XT275 treadmill review
With a 10-year parts warranty and an affordable price, the Spirit XT275 treadmill is truly a good buy!  This quality machine is made by Dyaco, the company that builds the reputable Sole brand treadmills

The Spirit XT275 is a great choice for individuals who want to get back into an exercise program but don’t want to spend a fortune on fitness equipment.  The XT275 is a sturdy, dependable treadmill for walking and light jogging and will adequately meet the needs of the average user.

As with other lower-end models, however, the Spirit XT275 treadmill is not going to be suitable for everyone!  People who have a long stride will be more comfortable on a model that has a longer running surface, for instance.  Hard-core runners really need a treadmill with a more powerful motor and heavier frame to support the constant pounding and running speeds.

Note: The comparable model from Sole is the Sole F80 — built by the same manucfacturer. It has received my "Best Buy" award and comes with a 2-year labor warranty.

Nevertheless, compared to other treadmills in its category, the Spirit XT275 has a lot to offer.

A Look at the Features on the Spirit XT275 Treadmill

You might expect to find some of the features of the Spirit XT275 treadmill on more expensive models.  Yet, these are also standard features on this more cost-effective machine.

Below is a list of features that are part of the Spirit XT275 treadmill:

  • spirit XT275 treadmill console2.75 HP continuous duty motor—Powerful enough to provide a smooth, quiet workout for walkers and light joggers.
  • Cooling fans—Located in the console, these fans create a nice, cool breeze for more comfortable exercise experiences.
  • Folds for convenience and easy storage—Folding treadmills are nice to have when space is limited.
  • 20” x 55” running surface—Adequate in length for the average user, but may be a little too short for taller athletes.
  • 6 automatic user programs and 2 custom programs—Perfect for adding variety to your workouts and to help you achieve your fitness goals.
  • Speakers in console with a jack for your MP3, CD, or radio—Must-have features that make it easy and convenient to listen to your favorite tunes as you burn calories and fat.  Those workouts will seem to fly by!
  • Incline capacity up to 15% grade—Even though this treadmill is best suited for walking, those workouts can be revved up by engaging the incline feature.  Walking at an incline provides a better cardio workout and burns calories more efficiently.
  • Handle-based speed and incline controls—Controls allow for easy adjustment of speed and incline levels, even when you are in motion.
  • Frame constructed of commercial grade steel—Heavy steel construction adds to the sturdiness and durability of the treadmill.  Exercise sessions are smoother and more stable.
  • Heart-rate monitor—Monitor your heart rate with the contact heart rate sensors or the included Polar telemetry belt.

Our Review—The Spirit XT275 Treadmill

Among today’s treadmills in the same price range, the Spirit XT275 is one of the better units.  It is solid, durable and built to last for years.

The lifetime warranties on the frame, motor, and deck are indicative of its fine construction.  The 10-year warranty on parts is a much better warranty than most treadmills have!  Such a warranty testifies that both manufacturer and dealer believe in this product.

Even though the Spirit XT275 is a fine machine, it does have limitations.  Pay attention to its maximum user weight limit of 350 pounds.  I would keep the weight limit at a maximum of 300 pounds for optimal performance.  Also, keep in mind that the motor is better suited for walkers and light joggers rather than for more advanced runners.

If you are exceptionally tall or have a longer than normal stride, you would probably be more comfortable on a treadmill that has a longer running surface.

Consider your personal needs and goals before purchasing a treadmill.  If the Spirit XT275 meets all your needs and goals, this could be a great buy for you!
