The ProForm Power 995 treadmill is one of several new models for 2010. Depending on the price, this may be one of the best values they offer. According to the company this is their hottest seller.
The Power 995 is in a different league from most of the ProForm models. With the size of the motor and deck, it is a treadmill designed for runners. It also is a consideration if you have multiple users.
Note: As of 9/1/10 the ProForm Power 995 treadmill was selling for $949 with shipping. A $50 discount during the current sale. Go to ProFormTreadmill.com

ProForm Power 995 Treadmill Features
3.5 Continuous Duty HP Motor — This a rather larger motor for a residential treadmill. You are more likely to find treadmills in excess of $2,500 with a motor this size. With a 3.5 HP motor, you have more than enough power to run smoothly and quietly at high speeds. You get a 25-year warranty on the motor.
20"x 60" Treadbelt — Treadmills below $1,500 usually have treadbelt's around 54" in length. They are adequate for walkers and joggers of average height. At a length of 60" you have a machine that can better accommodate runners, individuals with long strides and taller users.
iFit Live — This is their new breakthrough technology. iFit Live allows you to...
...experience trails all over the world with all of the inclines and declines. You can customize your own fitness program, receive automatic workout downloads, manage your profile on iFit.com and work out with Jillian Michaels. You can also add competition to your workout with 5k races against your Facebook friends. Other features include a nutrition and activity tracker, motivating text messages and emails, and workout videos available for download. (There will be an additional charge for this feature.)
The previous version of iFit cards was a series of progressive workout programs that span an 8 week period. They controlled the speed and incline of your treadmill and provide motivational audio coaching. There are several cards that are designed by Jillian Michaels, of the Biggest Loser fame. She would motivate me into getting in shape, or should I say scare me! IFit Live offers similar Jillan Michaels workouts that are all downloaded through Wi-Fi.
One of the most intriguing feature of iFit Live is the ability to interact with Google Maps. You can map out routes on Google Maps and follow your progress with a map, satellite or street view, if available. While you run iFit Live will simulate the terrain by adjusting the incline.
Note: There is an additional cost for this iFit Live. You need a wireless internet connection, and to best utilize the Google Maps feature you need a browser compatible machine like a laptop or smart phone. There are slots in the console to fit your laptop.
Speakers with iPod/MP3 Input - The quality of the sound on the ProForm Power 995 is not equivalent to Blaupunkt, but for a treadmill it is not bad. In fact, ProForm has some of the best sound systems built into fitness equipment.
I personally do not like wearing headphones, so having speakers conveniently pointing towards my head is a plus.
22 Workout Programs - The ProForm Power 995 has a generous selection of workout programs. They include competition training workouts, 10 performance workouts, 6 distance workouts and 6 weight-Loss workouts. I change my workouts regularly to enhance my results and to keep me motivated.
Warranty - ProForm does not offer the most generous warranties. That's because they want to upsell you. Actually, the only part of the warranty that is below average is parts coverage - 1-year. You also get 1-year labor. I would upgrade the warranty and protect your investment.
Our Review - ProForm Power 995 Treadmill
ProForm changes prices on their treadmills regularly. For example, the ProForm Power 995 was selling for $1,999 the week of October19, a week later they reduced the price to $1,299. At $2,000 there are better treadmills. At $1,299 with shipping this is a very good value. Especially when they release the iFit Live.
Price around and see what you have to pay for a treadmill with a 3.5 HP motor and a 60" treadbelt. It will be more than $1,300. The only brands that may have a similar offer are NordicTrack and Epic, both owned by the same company that builds ProForm. Being the largest fitness equipment manufacturer in the world Icon Fitness, the parent company, can offer more for less.
