I encourage people to spend at least $1,000 when purchasing a treadmill. You tend to get a more durable machine that in general will have a better service record. However, there are countless people who want to get in shape and loose weight in the convenience of their home, and yet have a limited budget. In fact, they are the vast majority of treadmill buyers.
Therefore, when I review budget treadmills, I always like to footnote my review with a few points...
- Budget treadmill are not as durable as more expensive models. They are built with budget parts.
- Usually the specified user weight limited is too high. It is absurd to suggest a treadmill for under $1,000 can handle a 300+ lbs user.
- Budget treadmills are best for walking. Some may be sufficient for light jogging.
- If you buy a budget treadmill, get extra warranty coverage. Protect your investment.
That said, let's talk about the ProForm 7.0 CrossTrainer treadmill. Yes, it is a budget treadmill, but when selling below $700 it offers so decent value.
Features on the ProForm CrossTrainer Treadmill.
2.25 Continuous Duty HP Motor - This motor is primarily designed for walkers and should be sufficient for that task. Beyond that, you are pushing it.
20" x 55" Treadbelt - Decent size treadbelt, which should be able to handle average to slightly above average individuals.
iFIT® Challenge Training Center - This unique programming makes assessments nad assigns you month-long training programs-including weight-loss workouts, cross-training workouts and 3 separate meal plans (1400, 1800, 2200 calories). ProFrom has some of the more innovative programming, which is ideal to motivate you in reaching your fitness goals.
Adjustable Cushioning - You can adjust the shock absorption to your comfort level.
Our Review - ProForm CrossTrainer 7.0
Overall, ProForm makes some of the better budget treadmills in the industry. As long as you realize the ProForm CrossTrainer 7.0 is not a heavy-duty machine and it has its' limitations, you can appreciate that it is a bargain for what you get. As suggested I would increase the warranty for 1-2 years. If something major breaks down it isn't worth the cost to fix it yourself.
