For Serious Runners
I recently had a viewer to the site ask what I thought about a treadmill at Costco selling for $899. He was planning on using it to train for marathons. I basically said, "You have to be kidding!" That's like asking if I should use a Kia budget automobile to go off road trekking in the Rockies .
If you are a serious runner, you need a serious treadmill to accommodate your exercise, and the NordicTrack Commercial CR is just that type of machine. If you are a casual walker, you can get by with the $899 special at Costco. However, serious runners abuse treadmills - that is a fact. (It also makes sense for a family with multiple treadmill users.)
Note: The NordicTrack Commercial CR TV is no longer available. See the comparable FreeMotion t7.3 at www.NordicTrack.com .
Constantly impacting the deck at high speeds wears and beats up a treadmill. So, you better have a machine that can handle it, or your are likely to have service problems. And a treadmill that isn't working properly can't get you in peak performance.
So why would you want to buy a NordicTrack instead of a True, Landice, Precor or Life Fitness treadmill, since those brands are known for offering commercial grade treadmills for the home. For the simple reason that NordicTrack offers the best value. They are a subsidiary of Icon Fitness, which is the largest fitness equipment manufacturer in the world, and by a large margin. With the economy of scale, NordicTrack can offer more for less. In addition, they sell direct online, which the other brands I mentioned do not.
The NordicTrack Commercial CR
3.5 Continuous Duty HP Motor - The NordicTrack Commercial CR is equipped with a monster of a motor. The kind you would find in commercial models. It is going to run effortlessly even at higher speeds.
3.5" Precision Rollers - The larger the rollers the better. Smaller rollers have to work harder because they are not moving as much surface. Larger roller makes for a smoother motion. It starts and stops smoother. Furthermore, it increases the life of the belt and the bearings. It also causes the motor to run cooler.
20" x 60" Treadbelt - If you are running on a treadmill, you don't want a standard 54" treadbelt. You'll feel like your always running off the edge. At 60" you can sprint and do interval training, and have adequate space.
Flat Screen TV - While you are burning up those miles, you can be entertained with a 7" flat screen TV. Personally, I find running on a treadmill to be boring, and having a distraction like the latest news, or the comedy channel, makes the time go by and makes it easier to reach my running goals.
Wireless Heart Rate Control with Two Heart Rate Programs - If you are not using your heart rate to maximize your workouts, you may want to start. Heart rate control is used by professional athletes to achieve their personal best. With heart rate control you can target specific zones and push yourself to the ideal limit.
Our Review - NordicTrack Commercial CR with TV Treadmill
NordicTrack reminds me of many of the Japanese car companies. They use to sell only budget models and gradually started producing some of the finest machines on the market for the best value. NordicTrack started as a budget brand, but in the last few years it has been building some quality machines that are stealing market share from the other brands.
The NordicTrack Commercial CR replaces their previous commercial grade model. The NordicTrack 3000 received excellent ratings from a leading consumer magazine, and surpassed Landice in overall rankings. The Commercial CR offers several upgrades, in addition to having a very attractive and contemporary design.
If you are looking for a good value on a serious running machine, the Commercial CR may just be the best value out there.
