The NordicTrack A2750 Pro is part of a new generation of treadmills that offers the latest concept in iFit technology.  For those not familiar with iFit, they are  computer cards that you can plug into your treadmill. 

Each contains a series of progressive workout programs that focus on a different fitness goals like weight loss, performance and body scuplting.  The cards control the speed and incline of your treadmill and include audio coaching.  They are designed by certified personal trainers.

The iFit technology has been a huge hit.  In fact, there is a site devoted just to iFit, where there are blogs, forums, articles and user recommendations.  Why has iFit been so popular?  Because it helps to motivate users to new levels of performance. 

Too often people get in a workout rut.  They go at the same pace for the same amount of time using the same program — boring.   And they wonder why they are not losing any more weight or getting any trimmer.  iFit is designed not only to motivate, but also to assist you in your progress. 

Building on this popular concept, NordicTrack has taken iFit to a new level of sophistication.  On the NordicTrack A2750 Pro they are offering iFit Live.  The treadmill will communicate with your computer through wifi.  According to NordicTrack...

iFit Live...allows you to experience trails all over the world with all of the inclines. Now you can customize your own fitness program, receive automatic workout downloads, manage your profile on iFit.com and work out with Jillian Michaels. You can also add competition to your workout with 5k races against your Facebook friends. Other features include a nutrition and activity tracker, motivating text messages and emails, and workout videos available for download.

Go Running or Walking with Google Maps

The above features makes this technology impressive, but this feature makes it insane. You can plug-in any trail or road that is on Google Maps and the treadmill wil simulate the terrain by adjusting the incline.  For example, you could run the route of the Boston Marathon the Great Wall China. Meanwhile your treadmill will simulate the inclines.

Now I am still getting the details, and I am not sure if the Google Maps application requires using your laptop, like the photo above, or your smart phone. The NordicTrack A2750 Pro has a place on the  console to place your laptop or Smart Phone.

Another interesting feature of iFit live is the ability to compete with your friends. You can do a race on your treadmill with your friends in real time. iFit Live will track and display the competitors on Google Maps. Whew!

There will be an additional cost for this feature. What do you expect? What that cost is has yet to be determined. If you were to buy the treadmill with iFit live now the cost would be $399 for the module.

I just got off the phone with one of the managers at NordicTrack and he is suppose to provide me with a coupon that will get you the module for free and you just have to pay a monthly fee. If they get it to me tonight, I will have it in place Saturday morning. So sit tight.

Additional Features on the NordicTrack A2750 Pro Treadmill

20" x 60" Treadbelt - This is an ample treadbelt that allows for taller user and is ideal for jogging.  You're average treadmill usually has a 54" belt.  The extra 6" avoids feeling like you are going to fall of the end of the deck.

2.75 Continuous Duty Motor - The motor is sufficient to handle walkers and joggers without straining.  It comes with a lifetime warranty. 

Audio System - The NordicTrack A2750 Pro comes with built-in speakers and the ability to plug in your iPod.  Music is always an excellent motivator when exercising.

Workout Fans - When talking to one of the managers at NordicTrack, he mentioned that the built-in fans are a very popular features.  Customers like how the fans are focused at their core, which is the part of the body you want to cool off the most.  

22 Workout Programs - I just reviewed a $3,000 treadmill that came with only 8 workout programs.  It doesn't cost that much to include a larger variety.  NordicTrack is usually generous in offering a good selection of challenging workout programs.  Another feature that can help to motivate you towards your fitness goals.

350 lbs Weight Limit - In general, I have issues with NordicTrack' weight limit recommendations.  If someone contacted me who was 350 lbs. and wanted a recommendation on a treadmill, I would tell them to spend in excess of $3,000 on a Landice. I would rate the user limit of the A2750 Pro at around 240 lbs.

Our Review - NordicTrack A2750 Pro Treadmill

When priced competively, the NordicTrack A2750 Pro Treadmill is a good value. When you factor in features like the extra long 60" treadbelt, a decent size motor, 22 workout program and built in sound system, this is a very attractive package. But I wouldn't buy this machine based on the iFit Live. The current price for the module is costly, though I feel that will drop. When I get some further answers, I'll be able to get my opinion on the value of this intriguing new feature.
